The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with @smartcomply Technologies Solutions Limited on the compliance checklist for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
The National Commissioner of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, who signed on behalf of the Commission, reiterated the importance of SMEs, noting that a significant share of the world economy is driven by the sector. He added that for Nigeria, with an even higher percentage, embedding privacy into all SME operations would be beneficial to the country and its citizens. He noted that the MoU will further strengthen the partnership between the Commission and Smartcomply. He also proposed the establishment of a working group to drive the implementation of the MoU.
Smartcomply’s CEO, Gbemisola Osunrinde who signed on the company’s behalf during the virtual ceremony, said the organisation is pleased to collaborate with the NDPC. She noted that the partnership aims to deliver meaningful benefits and improved data protection outcomes for Nigerians nationwide and beyond.
