The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) hosted the third edition of the IMPACT (Important Privacy Action Trends) initiative, themed “Understanding Compliance Audit Returns (CAR) as a Tool for Demonstrating Accountability and Managing Risks.”
The opening remark was given by the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association – Section on Legal Practice, Mrs Folashade Alli, who was represented by Tony Krukrubo, SAN. Other speakers were Ms Ibukunoluwa Owa (Head, Regulations Unit, NDPC), Dr Samuel Ibrahim (Associate Director, Regulatory & Dispute Resolution Services, Anderson), Mr Confidence Amuda (Co-Founder & Managing Director, Privalex Advisory), Mr Agwu David Nwaeze, Esq (DPO, ICPC), and Ms Toulu Akerele (Global DPO, Paystack).
The speakers gave their perspectives on the standardised template for filing CARs (Schedule 2, NDP Act – GAID), the filing of CARs as a tool for demonstrating accountability and managing risks, effective collaboration between organisations and Data Protection Compliance Organisations for the seamless filing of CARs, and practical methodologies for conducting internal audits and improving data processing practices.
This edition was moderated by a Technical Assistant to the National Commissioner, Ms Atinuke Nukay, and had 462 participants in attendance. The webinar featured robust engagement and interactive discussions and has received excellent feedback from participants.
