NDPC, Google, NITDA Experts Discuss Strategies for Children’s Online Safety at DNICE 2025

At the Digital Nigeria Conference and Exhibition (DNICE 2025), the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) hosted a panel session themed “Safeguarding the Nigerian Child in the Digital Age: Balancing Empowerment, Privacy, and Protection.”

The session explored practical approaches to promoting children’s online safety, including managing screen time, understanding the psychosocial impact of technology, and bridging the gap between data protection laws in theory and practice. The speakers emphasised vigilance in identifying data-harvesting schemes, innovation among youth, and collaboration between parents, educators, and stakeholders. They also underscored the importance of safety by design in schools.

Through initiatives such as Adopt-a-School, Privacy Club, and the Virtual Privacy Academy, the NDPC continues to drive awareness and advocate for a safer, more responsible digital environment for Nigerian children.
