NDPC and Digital Africa Launch National Data Challenge to Breed “Privacy-First” Gen Z Leaders

As part of activities to promote data protection and privacy in secondary schools, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) launched the National Data Challenge for Secondary Schools during the Data Privacy Summit 2026. The initiative was in collaboration with Digital Africa Limited.

The Secondary School Data Challenge is a strategic platform to deepen and strengthen awareness of data privacy and to empower students from Junior Secondary 3 to Senior Secondary 3 (JS3–SS3) with practical understanding and skills in data privacy, protection, and responsible digital citizenship.

This initiative involved five secondary schools in Abuja in the pilot, providing hands-on challenges, creative problem-solving, and interactive learning. Students explored what it means to own, protect, and respect personal data, both online and offline, aligning with the theme: My Data, My Privacy, encouraging them to take ownership of their personal information and make wise choices in a data-driven world.
